U.S. Army PFC Allen Robert Meldahl died serving his country as an Infantry - Light Weapons Specialist, on November 15, 1968, in Bing Duong Province, north of Siagon, South Vietnam. He was killed by an explosive device just 29 days after arriving in Vietnam. We should always remember the ultimate sacrifice Allen made.

Let's have a conversation about Allen as well. While both Allen and Jerry's death in Vietnam are tragic, Allen was killed just 29 days after arriving in Vietnam. He possibly was on his first combat patrol. My brother has something that was special to Allen. Allen was restoring a 1946 Chevy pickup truck when he joined the Army. After his death, Allen's dad sold the truck to my brother who continued the restoration. When I visit my brother we often take a ride in "Allen's Truck". Restoring that truck started my brother on a long career as the manager and eventually Vice President of a large tank truck manufacturing company.
