U.S. Marine PFC Jerry Norman Ellis died in a non-hostile accident, serving his country on July 4, 1968, in Thua Thien Province, north of Siagon, South Vietnam. We must always remember Jerry for the ulimate sacrifice he made.

A little story in memory of Jerry.  Jerry had just finished basic and was sitting down for dinner with my family before assignment.  He slipped and said (with basic still fresh in his nature) "pass the f'n potatoes".  The dining room got quiet, Jerry got a 'whoops' look on his face and my father (a former U.S, Army Ranger) immediately said *you heared him, pass the f'n potatoes". HAHAHA, miss you Jerry.

I remember Jerry, but didn't personally know him.  What wonderful friends he has who remember and honor his service to this day.  Thanks for sharing your memories.  Kathy (Kehoe) Peterson.

I remember Jerry from Reeds Drug Store--I think we both worked there at the same time.  My memories are  fond ones--he was such a nice guy, with a great smile, and was just fun.  I do believe I had a crush on him!

I recall last seeing Jerry in 1968.  He had enlisted in the Marines and it may have been after he completed basic training before shipping out to Vietnam.  I had lunch with him and several other WBL classmates at the University of Minnesota.  I believe the others were Alan Carlson, Tom Carlson and Keith Peck.  You could tell he was proud to be a U.S. Marine and excited about going overseas but there also seemed to be an undercurrent of apprehension about what the future would hold for him.  I’m sorry he never made it back.

Jerry was a great guy. We worked on one of our class floats together, which is when I started to get to know him. He was outgoing, down to earth and genuinely friendly. I was sorry I hadn't gotten to know him earlier than I did. It was very sad to hear he had died in Vietnam. He deserved a long and happy life. Rest In Peace, Jerry.

I remember him as always being a very solid person. We didn't interact much, but he was always "bright",in good spirits when I was around him.
